FREE Women’s Ultimate Clinic

Beginners Welcome

Women’s Summer League

What is an Ultimate Clinic?

This is a chance to learn to play Ultimate Frisbee (if you are a new player) or improve your skills (if you already play ultimate). At this clinic you will meet new people, learn the rules of ultimate, learn throwing skills and games strategies, and play a game of ultimate, all in one fun, free evening.

What is Ultimate Frisbee?

Ultimate Frisbee is a high energy, non-contact team sport. It combines elements of many different sports including soccer, basketball, and football. Ultimate is played on a rectangular shaped field with end zones shaped like football end zones. Each team consists of seven players. The disc is passed from teammate to teammate (there is no running/walking with the disc) until somebody catches the disc in the end zone for a score.

When & Where will the clinic be held?

Thursday, May 31st, 2007, 7:40 - 10:00 p.m.
at the Tempe Diablo soccer fields.

Who can attend?

All women, ages 16 and up.

Do I need to know how to play?

Absolutely not! In fact, you don't even need to know how to throw a disc. We teach all new players the rules and strategies of Ultimate as well as the basic throws.

What do I need to play?

You will need to bring:

  1. Non-metal cleats (or tennis shoes if you don't have cleats)
  2. A white and dark shirt (to differentiate teams)
  3. Water (you'll get thirsty)
Is there anyplace to play after the clinic?

Yes, there is a Women’s Summer League starting the week after the clinic, and coed leagues run in the fall and spring. Additionally, there are a number of open, beginner-friendly, pickup games in the area. Info on those can be found at VOTS.org and the Phoenix Women's Ultimate site.
