Winter 2012 Competitive League

Competitive League is a coed league offered by Valley of the Sun Ultimate Association (VOTS). The goal of league is to provide a place for upper level area players to play in “highly” competitive and spirited games.

When & Where are games held?

• Thursdays, 8-10pm
• January 5, 12, 19, 26
• Four teams; limited to 36 men, 28 women max.
• Games will be played with a 4/3 ratio. Offense dictates 5/2 or 4/3.
• These plans are subject to change according to registration numbers.
• January 5th at Arredondo Sports Complex, Field #1. January 12th 19th & 26th at Benedict, Field #3.

Who can play?

Unlike our usual leagues, which are designed to introduce the game to newcomers, Competitive League will provide an opportunity for the more experienced players in VOTS to come out and play hard, challenging games in a spirited co-ed format. Drafted players will typically be among the top third of VOTS players by skill level.

This is primarily an adult league, open to ages 18 and up. Players who are 16-17 can sign up but must submit a signed parental waiver with their registration. Players under 16 are not eligible to play. To be eligible, players must turn 16 years of age before the end of league.

Do I need to have a team to sign up?

Nope! All players sign up as individuals and teams are chosed in a manner which evens out the number and skill of players per team. Player registration will not be limited in number, but teams will be limited in number. Therefore, it is possible that not everyone who signs up will be drafted onto a team. Registrants who are not drafted will have their registration fee refunded. Drafted players will typically be among the top third of VOTS players by skill level.

What do I need to play?

You will need to bring:

1. Non-metal cleats (or tennis shoes if you don't have cleats)
2. A team color shirt (teams have a color and you wear your own shirt of that color)
3. Water (you'll get thirsty)

How much does league cost and how do I sign up?

Registration is Closed.

Registration is not capped, but some registrants may not be drafted onto a team. Registrants who are not drafted will have their registration fee refunded.

Registration is planned to close on Wednesday, Dec. 28rd. Please, sign up early. Registration may be closed earlier.

Anything else?

• Alcohol IS permitted on the field in cups and cans. No glass is allowed.
• Any underage participant in violation of the Arizona alcohol consumption laws or any adult participant who furnishes alcohol to or purchases alcohol for an underage participant is subject to immediate suspension from league.
• Under NO circumstances should anybody drive onto the fields. We may lose our rights to reserve fields in the future if anybody drives on the fields.
